'Welcome to the Anthropocene' Earth Animation from Globaïa on Vimeo.

Welcome to The Anthropocene, commissioned by the London Planet Under Pressure conference, provides a data visualization of the state of the planet. It opens at the early of the Industrial Revolution. Viewers watch the planetary impact of humanity, cities, roads, railways, cables and shipping lanes. The film is produced as part of the world’s first educational portal on the Anthropocene. The visualization of Welcome to The Anthropocene indirectly shows the impact of the technology to the earth.

AMAZON ECHO

More than just a speaker, the Amazon Echo is part voice assistant, part home automation hub, you can talk to and it’s fun to use. It controls other things in your house and lets you search the Web (using Bing) for daily information.
The Echo is controlled by voice commands beginning with the trigger words "Alexa" or "Amazon." A ring of lights at the top of the black cylinder turns blue, orange, or red as it listens, processes, responds, or sits idle. It talks back in crystal clear sound using natural language.
You can also instruct it to turn other electronics on and off if they're connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Currently, only about a dozen products are compatible with the Echo. Mainly plugs and light bulbs. It can recognize your voice from far across the room, even while it's in the middle of telling you about traffic conditions, or playing music or audiobooks.
If you connect your Google calendar, you can command the Echo to give you a summary of your week, set alarms, timers, and compose task lists. And, because the device is linked to your Amazon (AMZNTech30) account, you can tell the Echo to add things you've previously purchased to your shopping cart. You can access a list of all the commands you've given it through a dedicated mobile app. The more you use it, the smarter it get.

THE REVOLUTION OF ONLINE SHOPPING

Online shopping nowadays become popular to shopaholics. Shopaholics can find their favorite mascara, home accessories and even that perfect gifts for the impossible to shop for person in their life. It’s the heaven for shopaholics as they can enjoy to shop at 11 p.m. before going to sleep. And the best is they can ordering an amazing designer dress online today and receiving it the next day.

The buying practices through online started 36 years ago when an English entrepreneur Michael Aldrich invented online shopping which the system connected a modified domestic TV to a real-time transaction processing computer via a domestic telephone line called videotex. He believed that videotex, was a 'new, universally applicable, participative communication medium since the invention of the telephone.' This enabled 'closed' corporate information systems to be opened to 'outside' correspondents not just for transaction processing but also for e-messaging and information retrieval and dissemination, later known as e-business. His definition of the new mass communications medium as 'participative' interactive, many-to-many was fundamentally different from the traditional definitions of mass communication and mass media and a precursor to the social networking on the Internet 25 years later.
In March 1980 he went on to launch Redifon's Office Revolution, which allowed consumers, customers, agents, distributors, suppliers and service companies to be connected on-line to the corporate systems and allow business transactions to be completed electronically in real-time.
During the 1980s, he designed, manufactured, sold, installed, maintained and supported many online shopping systems, using videotex technology. These systems which also provided voice response and handprint processing pre-date the Internet and the World Wide Web, the IBM PC, and Microsoft MS-DOS, and were installed mainly in the UK by large corporations.
The first World Wide Web server and browser, created by Tim Berners-Lee in 1990, opened for commercial use in 1991.Afterwards, subsequent technological innovations emerged in 1994: online banking, the opening of an online pizza shop by Pizza Hut, Netscape's SSL v2 encryption standard for secure data transfer, and Intershop's first online shopping system. The first secure retail transaction over the Web was either by NetMarket or Internet Shopping Network in 1994. Immediately after, Amazon.com launched its online shopping site in 1995 and eBay was also introduced in 1995. Alibaba's sites Taobao and Tmall were launched in 2003 and 2008, respectively.
